DeleteI arrived to the U.S almost one year ago (June 2016). It was shocking because it was really different to Venezuela, my native country. In the U.S everything was so organized, groceries stores were full of food and any kind of stuff, you could find whatever you want. At the begining I though I won't be feel good here, because of the language, then I started to see that many people here in Houston spoke Spanish as well! The firsts months in Houston were really hard, because I did not know anybody, I had not friends and I felt lonely.. I started to run and work out to think in other things and avoid to thinking on my country and my friends. I was studying english in another institue and I met a lot of friends and we traveled to different places inside the U.S. We went to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and New Orleans. I had many friends for different parts of the world and even though they are not living in the U.S we keep in touch. I left everything in Venezuela, my carreer, my job, my friend, and I am starting from the bottom as many of my classmates are doing, it is not an easy way, but we can make it real! we just need to push ourselves at the limit and be focus on our goal.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. It's never been easy to leave home countries and live in another countries. Think about the reason why you decided to come here, and what you want to be when you come here. I think we will do better than before. Just try your best and never give up.
DeleteThe first time in another country is not easy for everyone. I also have some problems like you, but we will be fine. You lost some things in your country, but now you have new things in the USA. That is different. In here, we have a lot of opportunities.
DeleteWe the same because here is the second country right ? so nice to be friend with you guys these day, each story is a lesson for us !!!

ReplyDeleteBack to December 2014, when I entered the US consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, I could never image that I would be here today. After the visa interview, I knew that I was given an incredible opportunity to improve not only my life but also my family's. When I came here, everything was so strange, and I mean everything. Things like houses, roads, stores, etc. were totally different from my home country. Challenges came to me like they wanted to kill me. For example, missing my family and my friends made me frustrated. Even though I had friends soon, I still had an unexplainable feeling. I thought I was lucky because I didn't have to deal with those problems too long. I was able to bypass them. A few weeks later, I started to go to classes and made more friends. My life was better than before. To this point, I want to take a little time to share my opinion about American life. To be honest, I wasn't ready to come to the US. My decision was made in such a rush time, and I didn't think clearly. Even I'm here now; I sometimes think it's not my place where I belong. I feel so tired, upset, and bored. My motto is "Never give up," but sometimes I feel that my life can be better if I give up. Whenever I almost give up, I always find a right reason not to do it. To end this, I want to say that maybe one day I will go back to Vietnam, but it doesn't mean that I give up. I go back there because that's when I find a reason to leave here and go there. "Life is not what you think," so who knows what will happen?
ReplyDeleteThe USA is the best country in the world. I grew up in Vietnam, and it is a small country. I arrived in the USA four years ago. It was also shocking because of language and life. The people are really friendly. They will see and smile at you. Most of the times - "Good Morning, How do you do!". On replying I will get a big and audible 'Thank you, you're welcome'. It is so different Vietnam. My whole family lives in here, but we don't have time together. We need going to work or school, and everyone is very busy. We just met in the morning and evening about five minutes. The first day in the USA, I scared everything because I didn't understand all things. I started to learn how to drive a car and take an English class. My brother took me go to school, and my father touches me how to drive a car. They are patient. I felt sad and disappointed this time, and I missed my life in Vietnam. I had a good job and good friends already. Now, I needed to do against, and start like a child. That is hard to do, but never too late. After a lot of things and time, my life is better, and everything seems to look all right this time. Hopefully, I will graduate the university. That is my dream!
ReplyDeleteI understand you more than you can say lovely friend !!! try the best you can ok,we are trying together !!!
DeleteI see you have something the same me. Good success to you.
DeleteWhen I Arrived in the US
ReplyDeleteWhen I entered the USA it’s like a huge change in my whole life. It is a new life, challenges, community and, traditions. The United State of America is a perfect place to live ever it has a lot of good features like services, the whole city is organized and you can find whatever you need whenever you want. When I was young my dream is to see the US and now I do it. The problems I face when I arrive are language and missing my friends and relative in my country. But now I think I use to it because I need to get a better life, better education and the important things also are better job. I finished high school in my country and study two years college as engineering. When I came here I think I’m going to start from the beginning and after that work as an engineer in this beautiful country.
Anyone worried about everything when they came to US for the first time, but everything is good if we try. I wish you will succeed
DeleteRight. America is a challenge and a great place to live. Keep moving on and you will reach your dream
ReplyDeleteEverything was strange and new to me when I first came to the US. The flight landed in the afternoon, and I slept a lot during it. Therefore, I did not have a net lag. However, the first thing surprised me was the " color of time". I mean the sun still shines at 7pm in the summer, and it is dark at 6am. Another thing that I have never imagined was the rush life in the US. People here seem not spend time on your family a lot. They are too busy with work or school. Unfortunately, when they have time with their families, they just keep theit eyes on their smartphones or tablets. The last thing was the change of myself. Let me tell you what I have been changed. Before I had been to the US, I worked as a teacher and volunteered in my local church. That time was the wonderful time in my youth. Studying abroad and leaving my family and friends was one of the difficult decision I have ever made. Unlike before, I had to do everything by myself such as cooking, paper work and so on. I thought I would not miss my family a lot. However, my first Christmas here was so lonely because I had very few friends. Now, going through the struggle and challenge make me more muture and independent.

ReplyDeleteWhen I arrived in the United States, I felt many emotions at the same time. I felt sad because I was leaving my family, friends and my country for economic reasons and self-development, but not because I wanted to. I also felt happy and glad because I was opening the doors of this great nation to grow and get ahead.
ReplyDeleteOne of the impressions, when I arrived at the Miami airport, was the multitude of people and advanced technology in all things.
The first thing that surprised me was the modern and super clean cars everywhere because in my country almost all cars are old. Also, I can not forget the first supermarket or mall I visited, where everything was so beautiful, organized and sophisticated. Finally, the school I am currently in, the first time I saw it, I thought it was an airport for the air corridors and high technology. Even today I am surprised by the cleanliness of the bathrooms and a large number of computers everywhere. Undoubtedly, this country is great, even if we have to work hard, we always see the result of our efforts. That is why every person who comes from a country with low development and oppression, just like me, will feel many emotions at the same time
I came to the USA for four years ago. Before I moved to Houston, I lived in California for five months. Everything was so organized and clear. People were civilized and friendly. I was so lucky when came to here with my family. So I did not feel alone in a new place, and my relationships lived in the US so much. They took my family to Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose, Hollywood and some other places. Las Vegas is a paradise. The evening is the same morning, the light is over around on roads, from restaurant and casinos. I liked everything in there so much. San Francisco is even a perfect place. It is a hilly city. It's known for its year-round fog, Golden Gate Bridge with cable cars and colorful Victorian houses. San Jose looks like Vietnam. There are a lot of Vietnamese live in there. Hollywood is notable as the home of the US film industry, including several of its famous studios. It is so beautiful. Some skills were answers to my question on movies that before I did not know.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I arrived to USA In Los Angeles Ca .I saw my family and neighbors again ,I was happy because my brothers and my mom I didn't see for long time. I suffered for weeks the food because the flavor was different or other food, and tortillas Mexican was different but each year people was open more, and more stores . My first Monday my uncle told me I need to go school because it's necessary lenguage and communication , I went 3 days to the school because I didn't have car ,and I had debit for pay . For my family and my friends never I wasn't sad bescause I could found job , diversion and good friends.
ReplyDeleteI will always remember the day(Octubre, 2016) when I arrived in the United States because it was an unforgettable day. This day I was born again because I need to learn how to work everything, and also I should be to speak English. I felt confused and surprised with everything, so it is very different than my country, Cuba, especially with the modern cars and the traffic pollution on the street. At this moment I thought that I could never drive here. Then, the food was a big problem, too because I tried much food, but none liked me. The almost food here has a spicy, but I don't like spicy food. I don't forget that my first night I had nightmares about if I was really here, or if it was all a Hollywood movie.
ReplyDeleteMy transition to different country.
ReplyDeleteNever, I imagine to move to a different country, you would obviously be uncomfortable, wouldn't you? The everyday struggles of being a foreigner are very tough. For example, when I came to the United States it was very difficult for me when I had to leave my parents behind. Due to I consider my mother was one of my closest friends. Being separated from her was one of the toughest things for me, but I had to put up with it in order to chase my dream to have a new life together with my husband. This principal reason I came to the United States and other things that are tied in also. After that, When I looking for jobs as a foreigner in an unfamiliar place is very scary. Everywhere I went apply for a job they would turn me down because of my difficult learning a new language. I would face a lot of prejudices daily because of my trick accent that appeared very obvious to others. Coming to the United States, not all was bad, I learned at the end how to become a strong and independent person on my own, and how to make better of any situation.
When I have arrived at the Unite stated of America, It was a big challenge for my life. I felt excited and sad at the same time because I have to leave my family. Even though I not ready to move to the USA, but I have to go there.I do not know anything about the USA. It is not a first time for me to come to the USA, but this time had my kids with me.When I made to the United of American, everything looked so tall building, cars and a meal of food. I was missing Thai food a lot.I had to go shopping, school, DMV and restaurant by myself. However, it was a good experience for me. My husband lets me do everything by myself because he wants to show that I can do.It was tough, but I am proud of me.
